this has got to the point where i am about to part it out and buy a new one thats how aggravating it has got, i have stressed every option i can think of maybe someone else has got some insight on it, im a diesel mechanic but this is simple 2 stroke sh*t so i bought the 240 installed it per vitos instructions, not that i needed them, simple right? wrong, well it started with 150 psi and still wouldnt start, fresh everything, plug, gas, gaskets etc, fought with it for a week, fixed carb issues, didnt make a difference, so i pulled the back off by the carb and squirted gas in the back, as per vitos request, i was out of options at that point, still nothing, so i poured some carb cleaner down the plug hole and kicked it over, it started so i shut it off, now i know it has a lower flash point than prem fuel, some say use race fuel with the 240 others say they use premium. so i did another compression test and only had 100 psi, so i pulled the motor back off and checked it out, there were some metal shavings in the ports and around the cylinder, wtf? looks like the cylinder isnt damaged at all, looks just like i bought it, did buy it brand new. so i am stumped, so im going to build the leak down tester and reinstall the motor again, thinking i should drain the tank and mix up some race gas for it, let me know what u guys have experienced and what i should try, thanks

just because you changed the plug dont mean much check your spark the ignition coil might be going bad or it could be the stator

yeah i had that problem and rectified it, like i said i even squirted that sh*t in the back of the carb and kicked it over and still nothin

Never Spray carb cleaner into the motor and never add unmixed gas to the motor! That is running your motor as oil dry as you can. The carb cleaner is what may have made you lose some compression from wear.

nah i added some oil to it, and the gas i added was pre mixed, trust me it started long enough for me to know it started, then i cut it off, had to do something to see if it would work, i was out of options

are u sure you dont have a realy bad air leak and the carb cleaner plus that coulda srewed your rings or something thats why it droped compresion

yea that was my first guess i am going to get my guy to look at it and see if everything is good, cylinder looks fine and feels fine, but we will see tomorrow when i take it to him.
the carb cleaner had oil mixed in it. and the cylinder was oiled up, so i know it didnt cause the problem and it didnt run long enough, literally started and shut it off

You might need a hotter plug like a br10 or did you change your pilot jet? If the pilot is too small you can kick it all day long and get no where . You can compression start it check idle rev it etc if you added a starting fluid and it fired up it means you were able to load the cylinder enough to fire I say check your pilot jet size
