I just got my blaster about a week ago and I was told it needed a kick starter assembly. I replaced and it still won't start. I'm still kinda new to ATV's but I tried to check the obvious first, but I'm very lost and frustrated.

The guy I bought it from said it has brand new pistons. So I pulled the plug. It had a little bit of oil on it, but it wasn't soaked. what does that mean? what should my next steps be to figure this out??

Thanks

well theres lots that could be wrong, make sure u tear apart the carb and clean all the jets and needle seats real good, while the carb is out, take out the reed cage and inspect the reeds, there should be no big gap in the reed petal ends at all. when the reed cage is out, look into the intake and see how the cylinder looks, make sure there is no bad gouging on the cylinder walls, because it seems everytime i read about a blasty on CL or a blasty that someone has just got...they always say that it has a "fresh" or "new" top end...most of the time thats a bunch of BS, whos gonna dump aorund 150 bucks into a new top end and then sell it??....and more than likely the cylinder is gonna need to be rebored butcheck ur compression anyway to see whats it at

Ok, im definitely going to clean the carb. But I honestly have no idea what or wwhere the reeds are. Could please explain that just so im not removing more than I need too.

And when I look in the intake what should a good good cylinder look like as opposed to a bad one?

Have you checked to see if you are in fact getting spark? Take the plug out and with the coil wire on have a friend hold it near the head or similar metal area and see if it sparks. Also check the wiring ALOT of people have some jacked up wiring on there blasters. Do you still have the TORS and the Oil injectors?

the reeds are inside the part your carb hooks into before it goes into the cylinder. the intake is held on with 4 10mm bolts, if you are really carefull you can take it off (after takeing the carb off) and get a good look at your reeds and reuse the gasket. a new gasket would be nice but i assume you dont have one just laying around lol. and a good cylinder will be nice and clean looking with no nasty gouges or scratches.

I havent checked the spark yet because the plug had oil on it and I really wanted to know what would cause there to be oil on the plug. It was not a lot of oil though.

The tors is removed and I'm pretty sure the injectors are gone too but just to be sure where would the oil injection system be??
thanks

Do you fill a tank under your seat with 2 cycle or do you mix it in you gas. Thats a good way to tell if your not usin em lol Check that spark plug see if your gettin spark. You could show a picture of it if you think its that bad some of these guys can tell your problems just by lookin at the plug..

I mix and there isnt even a tank under the seat so I guess some body removed it already.
I did check the plug and there is a spark, so im not sure if that means everything in the electrical system is ok or if there could still be a prob.

Here are some pics of the plug.

Also does a compression test tel you if you need a new piston???
