blaster wont run NEED HELP

I have a 96 blaster I bought and I cant get it to run. I cleaned the carb, put in a new plug, and new gas. It wont fire. If you pull it behind a car it will start while your being pulled but it wont stay running. and if you puor gas straight into the carb it will start for a second and rev real high then die. Also the spark is not the best but its there. I NEED HELP

please let me know what you think. I might need a new wiring harness because mine is cut and spliced everywhere!!

if it starts and runs when u pour gas in it the u have a fuel problem. maybe filter in tank is clogged. is there gas coming out of hose when u pull line off of carb? if yes then the prob isnt in the tank. if no pell the petcock and clean screen. next is the float bowl full ? if no then there is a prob with the floats or needle and seat. remove, clean and reassemble. if yes there is fuel in float bowl THen you need to pull out the jets and clen also clean passages where jets go.carb cleaner is a good thing to use. burns in cuts though.AFTER all this it is time to check air leaks. do a leak down test and check you compression.or a compression test u should insert gauge and kick bike over a few times. should have at least 100-120 psi to even run.cold since it doesnt run. all checks out good ur bike should run. change the gas in the tank maybe old. if there is a spark your harness and electrical isnt the problem. and stop pulling it before u trash some gears!!! let us know ur progress!

it could be your tors, it could also be maladjusted carb.
what does your plug tell you? if the jetting looks ok (it would be the idle circuit), then you should check your compression. if that's ok, then check your stator. you might have sheared your woodruff key.

If thers no fuel coming from the tank first take tha cap off and make sure the fuel vent hose isn't clogged, if it is it won't allow fuel to flow, if that's not it do as blasterbioch said she seems to kno what she's doing +1 to her

I know it sounds like a fuel problem but the entire carb has been cleaned and it gets gas, mabey just not enough.

and another problem is the kick start is busted, like there are teeth missing because it wont "catch" every time you kick, Can this be related?

got it started, it doesnt have TORS anymore because it is twist throttle. I think the problem was a clogged pilot jet, and some "half ass" wiring done by previous owner.

grats! how much you pay for it anyway? i got mine for 575 from prev owner who also did not know what he was talking about. He just said the piston needed redone.. but nope. the whole cylindor and head were shot, the stator was bad, pretty much name it and it was wrong.. there was a mouse living in the carb the tires were shot, the front shocks were shot. the clutch case leaked, spark plug was bad, the rear axle and swingarm bushings were bad... and im in need of a new clutch soon ( 2.99mm was measurement for the clutch disks) ( lowest value wanted is 2.8 ) back brake cable is siezed, the clutch cable not quite seized but close to it, the throttle cable touched the exhaust so theres an exposed part, the exhaust was crap rusted all around and even a small rust hole. so I put close to 1k in it before it even started to run......
