So here's the deal. We went riding this weekend and my buddies blaster wouldn't go in gear (with the motor on or off.) I can feel the shift rod moving the shift star. It also makes the normal clicking noise. So my question is did he smoke the clutch plates or do I have to split the cases? The bike is not in my garage yet so I won't be able to offer up any more info at this time. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Take off the clutch cover, push the shift star in about a half inch or so. It should do the trick!

If he has to push the star in, what will hold it in afterwards?8-|

Is the sprocket attached to the output shaft?
Check that the screw holding star to drum didn't come lose. Check the shift shaft that the pawl on the shaft isn't broke or worn, or spring on shaft is broke. I:I

this was because you didn't have your clutch cover on to hold everything in place. his engine is assembled.

If you can hear it "clicking" into gear it "should" be a clutch issue

Mine clicked into gear? i clicked everytime but never went anywhere just clicked

ok i'm done thread jacking but your clutch cover is what holds everything in place. that is why it worked when you held in on the shift star. that is where it belongs when the clutch cover is on

Thanks guys. When I get it in the garage I will pull the clutch cover and post results. How will I know if the clutch plates are worn to much? Will they turn a purple color from to much heat? I will check check to see if sprocket is attached to output a haft properly.

I just ordered a tusk clutch kit. I figure for 35.00 I'll just replace it anyway. Hopefully I'll have some results soon.
