well if you have been keeping updated on the piston slap thread you'd know i thought it was the reeds causing my low/rough idling problem. i bought and installed new boyesen super stock carbon fiber reeds. it revs quicker and snappier than previously but still has the idling problem. only now after it runs a little, while idling, out of nowhere it will die. in the vid you'll see where it dies once, then right after i stop recording it dies again. i adjusted the air screw from 2-1/2 turns to 1-1/2 turns as i had kept forgetting to adjust it back in place, it likes to back itself out occasionally so i have to readjust it. right now it has k&n filter, full fmf exhaust, open airbox, boyesen CF reeds, and a 290 main. it runs best with a 290 (i've already tried a 300 and 310 in it).

stock pilot too but i got some bigger pilots that i could put in. is the pilot jet the air/fuel screw or is it inside the carb near the main? i've never changed a pilot.

its the other jet inside the bottom of the carb, go bigger with it with the air screw 1 1/2 turns out. report size u have in there now when u change it. go up a size or 2 nothing drastic, little by little and see how it reacts.

all i know is it has the pilot in it that came with it from the factory. the stock main it had in it was a 240 so it must have been sold during winter? i'm assuming since bigger main during cold weather. and nevermind i just checked, i thought i had ordered pilots but now i remember when i asked you guys for a main jet size idea way back when and you guys told me not to get pilots... so i'll have to order some, what sizes should i order?

if you had to ask where it was, my bet is that you've never pulled it to clean it ????
the only blaster i know of that needs a bigger pilot may be a BBK running on a stock carb, the 32.5 thats in there is plenty for the airflow that little carb can flow. period
clean the carb !!!!!! pilot, airscrew passages and all

if its got the 32.5 in there, dont worry about upping it yet, check ur petcock too, the screen could be clogged, clean everything on the carb, use lp air and blow everything out before u change the pilot.

does it high rev at all while its running or before its going to die?

guys, i have cleaned the carb plenty of times... and i have removed the pilot jet and all other parts of the carb to clean it i just wasn't sure which one was actually the pilot. i'm no carb expert by any means and i don't mess with them alot. i have messed with the blaster carb more than any other before, changing jets, cleaning, etc. the carb is spotless, i cleaned it while i had it apart. and no it never high revs or anything and is not running lean. it runs best where it's at (290 main). i tried upping it to a 310 main with nothing but negative results (fouling plugs and dying more often, it was very rich).

EDIT: also, the only thing i've been able to come up with that might cause it is needing rebuilt and i really don't think that's the case as it has 125 psi of compression. but let me guys know any ideas you may have.
