I am about to buy a 1994 blaster for 300-400 bucks , there is no engine but it comes with everything else, he is offering to sell me a 2005 400ex engine for another 650 bucks

please comment and leave tips/ideas

I agree with them on getting engine cheap on ebay or something. Something to consider though, you might find a bike with a blown top end and get whole thing very cheap as well. I picked up my last blaster (like new shape) with blown top end 1997 model for 500 bucks complete. It cost me about 200-300 for new piston and FMF turbinecore 2 silencer... so for my time plus bike and parts was about 700-800 total and I pieced it together as I got funds :).

If you are not good at working on things (not sure as title says for beginner) you might be better off checking out craigslist for a complete running bike and would save you time and frustration and not cost too much especially with today's times...

dont buy the 400 motor just buy a blasty motor and drop her in try to work him down on the roller price though
