I have a 2004 blaster and I have had the problem of it trying to rev up and act like its running away like a diesel its done it three times the first time it bogged out and kept bogging out while down shifting then I pulled over and pulled the clutch in and it took of revving to way to high rpms and then wouldn't shut off by the ignition both kill switches were off and it kept revving so killed it by dumping the clutch what can cause it to do this repeatedly

I'm probably going to be cleaning the carb tomorow due to it sitting long periods of time but could something clogging up the main jet be causing this also and is there any problem areas of air leakage its also having bad idling problems the second time it did this I had stopped on the trail pulled the clutch in and it started revving and revving so I shut it off quickly and it luckily shot off but before that it was running great but just kep idling higher and higher every time I would stop

and yes it is very scary to hear this thing screaming with absolutley no control over it and every time its did this its ran great right before that especially the first te right before the first time i had been trail riding all day and had just got off a short road section wjen it did this i had had no prior issues before this since i got it two yeas ago and when i got it it didnt have 5 to ten hours on a 40 over bore and rebuild

there was another person on here that could not shut there blaster off.
it got soo hot it melted the spark plug toghther/glow plug lol.

tell us your mods done?
airscrew settings?
spark plug type?
main jet size?//ect:)

its bored 40 over weisco piston Toomey racing pipe kit and stock jets a I don't know the carb setting they are just set where it ran best and it is an ngk spark plug out of a Polaris jetski we put that plug in it to get it running when I first got it and never had a problem with it so we left it in there an carbon fiber reeds of an unknown brand I did not build the engine my cousin did at first it was then sold to my uncle who bored it so that is the extent of my knowledge on it

I know it for sure has a stock main jet in it because when I bought it It was not running and my uncle told me it was the carb and the float was sinking so I bought a moose racing stock carburator rebuild kit and a OEM Yamaha float so where can I get the proper main jet and could serious damage could have occured because of running it for a long time like this this is the first two stroke I've had and I've had it for two years but never had to tear into the engine so I'm not familiar with the carburator jetting and stuff along the technical side so every bit of help is greatly appreciated

running a 230 main jet with a pipe that requires a 310 in optimal summer conditions most certainly did damage,
do it in cold weather which requires even richer jetting may destroy it, and is probably why unlce had to rebuild/bore it.

that engine needs compression and leakdown tested asap !

advanced and autozone will loan you a compression tester

leakdown tests:

Just to reinforce a previous statement.. You need to leak test !!!. Jetting was extremely lean. Bad thing is,,,, lets hope nothing major happened..

Good thing is you found the right place and we are hear to help.. Post some pics when you can, we like pics..

Last but not least,, Welcome to the forum !

I will do my best to get a leak down tester and check it as quick as I can and I am also wondering is there any reason I should upgrade to a bigger carb

Not really. a stock carb handles a good amount of upgrades. Unless you go to a 240kit or have some serious porting a stock carb will do best..

zero reasons to go to a bigger carb for your mods

Cody, the leak testers that Awk08 sale are great and at a great price. I payed him through paypal and had it like 2 days later. If you don't have one, I would buy one from him.
