Hi still new to this site, trying to figure everything out. I have a 98 blaster with a fresh top end, .030 over, pro design reed spacer, oil injection block off, TORS removed ( i think?), Toomey B1 silencer and a UNI air filter with no lid. Just picked the quad up a few weeks ago. Right now i have a 48 pilot and a 150 main jet in it, with the needle on the second clip from the top at 1000ft elevation. No air leaks anywhere. It runs great, pulls hard in every gear (running on the rich side tho). The problem is i just can't seem to get it to idle. It will almost idle, then bog out and stall, and if i adjust the idle speed it shoots up to high idle. Any suggestions? Thanks

48 and 150 both sound rich for a 28mm ?????
you need to go up or down on that pilot till you find the one that it will idle with the airscrew under 2 turns out, and adjusting the airscrew actually has an effect on the idle speed
i'd also try the needle clip in the middle
then plug chop all 3 circuts....pilot, needle and main

The air screw is set at 2 turns out right now, ive tried a couple different positions, though. Maybe i am running too rich at these settings? Ill try a 42 pilot and maybe a 145 main tomorrow and see. Thanks Again

/\/\/\ thats on a ported cylinder,
just for comparison to my 34mm pj,
summer jetting .......
i run a 45 pilot, dgh needle/mid clip, 155 main, 162 in cooler months

why do the smaller 28/30's require bigger jets than my 34 ????

I would come down in jetting for your elevation. I agree with Awk, it sounds rich. I'm running those same jets nearly at sea level (under 300 ft of elevation) and my plug chops are rich (just the way I like'em).\

Edit: very true Awk, and I'm running a custom airbox too.

Ok cool just what i wanted to hear, the good thing is i have a bunch of jets already so ill be able to try all of these combos tomorrow when i put the new clutch in it. Thanks
