Hey everyone, i recently picked up this blaster that is in need of a top end rebuild, possibly more, i just ordered the top end rebuild kit from weisco, and decided to join this forum for some help. ive never done a top end before, and im just looking for some tips as i do it. my goal is to have this blaster running and ready to ride in the next 2 weeks I:I

yeah i did, my bore size is like 66.1 so i just order std, and my bore looks pretty good too, so im not going to do anything with that

66.1 is above specs!

0.035 to 0.040 is piston to bore clearance on a stock piston.

You are going to have bore and hone it!

you should have that cylinder measured by whatever reputable shop in your area you choose to use, and let them tell you the extent of wear to the cylinder and recommend a piston size for you, then they should bore/hone the cylinder to match that exact piston when it gets in their hands.

chances are, without a meltdown, just .10 over should be fine, but have it measured first to be sure

btw...use only OEM yamaha or cometic base gasket, no green/blue/black paper gaskets.
leakdown test it after assembly and proper heat cycles, then retorque head and base bolts

what are these 2 holes for???

To keep crap out of the case you can cover them from the inside.

Make sure that the oil injection nipple on the carby is capped.

what do you run for oil and mix? i usually run 32 to 1 klotz super techniplate. and also how do i remove my tors off my carb and what is the advantedges of doing so?

you'll get varying answers to this
here's what works for me........

3-5 complete warmups while lightly revving it,
complete cool downs in between each.

retorque head and base bolts

no sustained wide open throttle runs for a tank or 2 of fuel.
