Just got my '05 Blaster last Tuesday. Bone stock, still has the stock tires on it. I'm the 3rd owner, and got it for cheap. The only thing this bike needs is a air filter. I have to run a intake because I will be going through the wet stuff from time to time. I bought the quad as is, but it needs a air filter cage and air filter. I was wondering if I just bought a K&N if I even needed the air filter cage? It would seem it is rigid enough to hold its own shape. If not, I will just buy the cage and a UNI air filter. Thanks in advance.

Welcome to BF. the k&n filter does not require a cage. However if you are going to be going through a lot of wet stuff I would recommend getting the uni and cage. If you absolutely must have the k&n then at least get an outerwear for it.

So the uni and a cage is that much better than a K&N? I only suggested that K&N because that is what I run on my truck and I love it. I am new to this stuff so I appreciate the help.

It depends on the riding that is being done. If you plan on doing a lot of riding through water then a uni will offer better protection.
