You can also start the engine, turn on the light switch, and then using an electrical test light see if you're getting juice to the yellow and green wires plugged into your light. One wire is for high beam and the other for low and I can't remember which is which......so just be sure to test both wires.
You can check the bulb with a tester that has an ohm meter. Set the tester for ohms and put the negative contact on the bottom of the bulb. The positive contact from your tester goes on one of the nubs on the side of the bulb. Not sure what resistance the bulb is supposed to measure, but if the bulb is bad it likely won't show any resitance at all......so give it a try.
