First off let me say thank you 10x over for the help that blaster biotch and her husband have given me , there time alone is worth more than my blaster, gave a random user the benifit of doubt , sent me the parts i needed having enough trust I would pay for them, today was the first day I have ever ridden my own machine sound miniscule but I've been riding weekly since I was 8 , total of 14 years, secondly not that she would know but I'd like 2 thank my girlfriend for tolerating my sh*t as I spent time with my blaster and not her , I need help I have a running blaster with no clutch or brakes ( doesn't stop me) , took It for a ride now its stuck in first which still won't phase me without say so the feeling is odd when I go for neutral it feels like the shifter is slipping but will go into second gear or so I think... Any suggest as I'm most likely going 2 need 2 go into the clutch anyway because it doesn't work even hott I've driven itvless than 2miles since its running and cash is limited I have time but not so much the know how ( once again thanks BB and Nelson!!!!!)

im not totaly sure but wont dry shifting really mess up your clutch and or your shifting forks?? this is what ive heard. i was stuck out in the middle of a creek when my clutch cable snapped. so i had to ride home with no clutch and my buddy said its not good for it at all. maybe its because theres no clutch???

I'm sure its not good for it, hince the reason for a clutch but the trannys are made for wear n tear dont think 2 mins of hard shifting will blow it , but who knows just asking if anyone can offer suggestions as Im unsure what 2 do at the moment

you might need to adjust the nut on the pressure plate I had to do this several times to get mine right after I rebuilt the tranny. as far as dry shifting goes...
blasters have strait cut gear boxes as long as your in the right rpm range you can shift without the clutch (up or down), using it only causes un-needed wear on the clutch just back off the throttle and shift they are designed to work this way without causing damage you dont even have to let completely off the throttle just enough to take the tourque of the gears for a sec while they are moving.

you can do the same in a car or truck to shift up (since they have heilical cut gears shifting down is almost impossible with out the clutch) but I dont suggest it unless you have a racing tranny or an old beater that you dont mind grinding gears in. Because the rpm range in which the gears will slip together in a helical cut is very narrow.
That being said get your clutch fixed because its not always practical to be in the right rpm range and you should still use it for taking off

well now that the engine is cold again i got it into neutral but it still has that feeling of how can i say it .. striped neutral as ive heard from others , going down into first it feels fine,up into second its fine but the gap in between feels like the shift lever isnt even connected just flopping around.. i know its not good but if i can still get into neutral toying around with it or even clipping on vice grips do you think its ok to ride it?

the clutch is there for a reason, its not a semi automatic, if the clutch is there use it, or just get a quad that doesnt have a clutch I:I

See i didnt know all that but you learn something new everyday i always thaught the clutch is there for a reason and if it stops working fix it. But i would def start looking into the things he said about the nut on the clutch.

Although i havent tried while riding it when stationary the clutch pulled in and in 1 st gear it won't roll like it should maybe I should try it running Ill post the update soon , thanks for your input

The clutch is there for a reason. you should use it when taking off and when your not in the right rpm range for the gear you want to be in (ie. down shifting to slow yourself down) it will also come in useful when trail riding on steep terrain or in mud where your engine could easily bog down causeing you to stall it if you dont pull the clutch. face it we've all been in the wrong gear somtime or another and stalled out. useually with with lots of people watching:">

yea i rode it again the clutch is completely disfunctional doesnt work at all , how hard is it to reinstall a new shift lever as i belive it was broken before and than welded back together because its striped preventing me from putting the 4 wheeler into neutral but for some reason i can get it into 1st and second gears and than running through all the gears , also bogs down once i get into second , first gear is fine from low rpms to high second up to 6th you have to have really high rpms in the gear b4 to get it to even move in those gears when u press the gas it just sorta dies so i down shifted to keep it running , any ideas?

is that nut supposed to be a locknut? because i noticed that i rode mine for like 10 minutes and it came loose, and had no clutch response at all. i took off the case and tightened it up with my fingers in like 10 seconds. so, i think i need a new nut and maybe a pushrod.
