i was wondering if anyone can tell me if its ok to use spacers on my front wheels or if i should get longer a-arms? for the cost i would like to use spacers but if its going to be bad for the bike i will get a widening kit. thanx
No its fine to get spacers, i am getting them in a week, i just orderd the rears, just the front a arms is better quality, and a little bit stronger, its all up to you but no they both work very well
I've ran 1 1/2 spacers for a while now with no troubles on the front. I ride hard too. I would'nt go any longer myself, you will stress the stud and outer bearing more then without spacers but they seem to be able to take it. I would stay as far away from those widening kits as I could. A-arms are the best choice, those widening kits I've seen on e-bay have no strength from a frontal impact. Their strong up and down but weak forward to rear. Do spacers and get a-arms when you can, imo.
Sure it puts more stress on the bearings, but the real issue of spacers, just like flippin wheels, is how it moves the tire away from the axis of the spindle. This changes the way it handles, bumpsteer, etc. If you don't mind the way it changes the steering, then fine.
