Well, I get my blaster this Friday and want to make it fat friendly for me. As of now it handles fine and has made some fast runs down the trails. However it sits pretty low when I am on it, plus I have plans of getting a plus 6"-8" swingarm which will act like a lever. My idea is to get an aftermarket long travel shock that is about 18" eye to eye and run that, so when I sit on the bike its stock height but still has alot of travel to work with.

I put a 250R shock on my wifes Blaster. It raised it up about an inch or so, more importantly it doesn't bottom out when I ride it, and I'm a big guy too. I have heard that the 400ex shock gives better ride quality. Unless you are doing serious hill climbing or drag racing, the 6-8 seems very long. I have a +3 on my son's and it is real nice. Plus, keeping it shorter will reduce that lever effect. To truly run that long of a swingarm, you would prob need custom springs at least.

I sit really far back on the seat so I just wanted to help the weight distribution on the thing. As of now I pop the front up coming out of every corner when I get on it, and I push through some sharp turns sometimes because the front is light. So a +4 and change of riding style is in order then, thanks for your input guys.

you only see 6-8" swinger for drag purposes and likely would't hold up to trail riding, +4 sounds like you would like it too long for me. as for suspension, a heavier guy would likely like the stiffer 450r shock. I would ask Awk08, a member on here on that one, i think he has a trx 450r shock and he has likely rode an ex shock, care to chime in awk?
