alright this question has probably been asked but...there is 2 big bore kits on the project blaster site. all it is is just a piston. what else would i need to buy with that? or would it just be cheaper to buy a kit that comes with everything

im assuming they want ur cylinder to install a bbk sleeve. if i was ever going to spend the money on a big bore i would get a whole new cylinder with more modern port design.. even a POS vitos can haul ass with some quality porting I:I

I agree with noober.... If you're gonna go through all the work to get a big-bore kit done on your bike, I'd skip the PB setup and go with a complete kit. Just putting a BB sleeve in your stock cylinder will work, but people have had trouble with them coming 'apart', and you'll get more power with different setup.

IDK what you're looking at, but lots of the Project Blaster stuff is extremely expensive, at least when you are talking motor packages. LA Sleeve makes a badass big bore kit for around $ 600.00 that is a direct bolt-on. It comes with a forged piston, port job, reed cage...everything you need but a carb and pipe. This kit is only a few dollars more than the Vito's, but I hear it runs MUCH better right out of the box. I'm fixing to order me one and find out for sure!

Took me three seconds to read "bolt on and go" Still have to send them your head. I'm not familuar with the pricing, might want to shop around before you pull the trigger.

JMHO, your results may and will vary. :D I:I

let me know when you get that if you could please. i wanna know what you think of itI:I

hey bud, if your gonna be running a bbk, your gona wanna run a 33-35 mm carburetor. and that fmf pipe you got woulnt do nothing for your bbk. It will only restrict the power that that thing can put down. So you'll wanna get a f7 pipe also. Costs alot to go fast.

Ok, I sure will! I'm gonna think a little outside of the box and run one of the new Keihin PWM carburetors with my kit. This is a 38mm carb which is a little big for just a BBK. However, if I do decide to install a big-bore kit, I will also be running a 4mil stroker crank and aggressive port job. This combo will make my engine a almost a 250cc. Many 250cc dirtbikes come factory with 38mm carbs, so I'm not too worried about a possible loss of low-end performance with a 38 mil carb.

If I were you, I would run a 33 or 35mm carburetor with your 240 big-bore kit, no matter what brand you get. This smaller carb will give good low-end response and still let the engine scream up top. Either a 35mm Keihin PWK Airstryker, a 34mm Keihin PJ, or Mikuni TMX would work well for you, IMO.

haha you got the fmf pipe part wrong. its a toomey. i thought about the f7 one but didnt know everything about so i went with the toomey.

LA Sleeve recommends a bigger carb because this BBK uses a CR style reed cage and intake. It flows a LOT more air when compared to a standard Blaster/Vito's/PB cylinder. I would go with LA Sleeve's recommendation if you buy a kit from them.

Ebay is gonna be your best bet for carbs, at least to start. You don't need one for a Blaster; just search for the type/size of carb you want, get one, and re-jet it for your engine. In other words, all the big carbs out there weren't originally intended for use on a Blaster; you'll just have to get one made for something else and re-jet it for your application. Not hard to do. Whoever you get the BBK from can help you get an idea of which jets you should run.

alright ill have to looking on ebay then. should i just use the jet i have now. it came with my toomey. im pretty sure its a 130 main

haha im sorry 04. But yeah look at like dirtbike carbs, 150 dirbikes, stuff like that on ebay. Yeah, if you can stay away from vitos. Try LA Sleeve or Send it to Ken o conner. and no no you wil fry that piston, you'll be running wayyy to lean.

Lol, I hope its not a 130 main! That would be so lean I doubt the engine would even start. I think you are running a 310 main, perhaps? If you got the jet from Toomey, it would be a 310. To answer your question, no. You will need to find the proper jets to use on your new carb. Keihin and Mikuni use two different systems for numbering their jets, and they don't interchange. I'd talk to whoever you get the BBK from to get an idea on where to start with jetting.
