It's sort of like asking which flavor of beer is the best. Everyone's going to have "their favorite" and all of the others aren't going to be "as good" to them.

I've read all the hype about the fancy dancy gear oils and generally believe that to be "snake oil" salesman tactics. I use automatic transmission fluid type F (which might be hard to find on your side of the pond, but dextron/mercon type 3 seems to work equally as well too!) and change it right regular. There are a few things I really like about it.

One, it's inexpensive. $5 USD for a quart (~ 1 liter) and I only need 2/3 of that. For $3.50 USD I can change the transmission fluid every other ride and equal out to the same price as buying the super high end transmission fluid but only changing it out once a year.

Two, I change it often. I don't change mine every other ride as most of my rides are short but I do change it after every long riding weekend (2-3 days 25 miles or so) because trail riding, I eat up clutch material and which is better, leaving it in there or getting it out?

Three, it's red in color helping me to judge the level of contamination through the sight glass at just a glance. Also, seeing the "actual" level through the sight glass is much easier with bright red liquid filling it instead of mildly brownish/grey liquid. I always had trouble determining the level when I used to use motor oil (per the factory manual)

I hope this helps!

Mixin I prefer redline it cleans your jug real good but if u ain't got the money for redline go with yamalube 2 r high preformance

for premix i used to use golden spectro but, its become really hard to find local and ive switched to klotz benol, nothing but castor for this guy<<<
gear box, i use atf type f. ive used it for years in alot of different rides and never had a problem.

Providing the oil you use for pre mix is designed for air cooled motorcycles, and you mix at 32:1 or what is specified by the maker, then it is a good oil.

I prefer to use a Castor bean oil, but it is a matter of choice.

Transmission oil is usually 10w-30 4 stroke motor oil which contains no friction modifiers, or as said before ATF type F.

i use castor 927 in my one blaster

and lucas semi synthetic in the other both work great for me

10w30 for tranny
