Ok so Im probably going to look at a blaster tomorrow and I've asked the guy plenty of questions. He said it has a 240 bore, vforce 3 reeds, new ambush 18" rear tires and that the top end was redone with a wiseco kit (not by him by a local shop). So, I find out that the bore isn't really a 240. He said "It is a .40 over which is a 240" Which as I know thats not correct. .40 over is only a 67mm. piston and would only bring the bore to a 212cc. Correct? Wouldn't it have to have a 72mm. piston to make it a 244cc? I asked him if it has been rolled and he said that it was flipped backwards once and that the bars were bent but he bent them back. Is that going to effect it? If I buy this will I need to get new bars? If so what bars should I get? He also said that it has new brake pads all around but it needs the upper and lower brake lines. He also said that it needs a kickstart spring. That is the spring in the kickstart lever that makes it go back up after you kick it, correct? And if I do buy it what brand brake lines should I get?

What year is the Blaster?
I am assuming it is a 2003 or newer, since you say it needs brake lines.
Bending the handle bars back straight is not a good idea as it can weakent he metal and the bars could snap. You can buy stock replacement bars off Ebay cheap.
Being bored 40 over will not affect the cc's enough to even measure. It is still a 198cc machine.
The kicker spring he is talking about is probably the one inside the clutch cover, not allowing the kicker to come back up after you kick it.

It's a 1997 actually. He told me it needed brake lines so idk. Can you send me a link to the kickstart spring. Idk what he's talking about he said it was like $8 and when I looked it up yesterday I found one that was $10 and it was just like a spring and a little cap to keep it in place is that what he's talking about? I looked it up just now and found some for $40 that were like the one your describing that goes in the clutch cover. I also thought that it would weaken the bars. Is it worth buying for $750? Thanks.

In my opinion is look for one that is stock no one's hands in it. It's not all that hard there is a ton around here. I bought one for about the same that some guy messed with and it's literally been a money pit. Id look for a 03+ disc brakes lot of basic upgrades for first Gen

But $750 is a great deal. Around me people are asking 1200+ for a stock blaster.

I'm just trying to save on your headache. The front hydros is a drastic improvement over the drums.

No any will do. There's a guy selling some fat bars in the marketplace new with new grips for 50 bucks shipped

do you know why the guy said that it need upper and lower brake lines when it is a 97. bummer said that 03+ have brake lines. correct?

He probably meant brake cables. I would never buy a blaster in that condition for 750. As we all know blasters sell for different prices in different areas. The. Problem is the prices on replacement/aftermarket parts are the same price wherever you are. The best thing you can do is come up witha budget to do the bike. Price the parts needed to make the bike the way you want it. If the numbers don't work the bike is not for you. From the description it seems the PO did not take very good care of it.

Because there is one cable that goes in to 2 cables. that would be my guess.

Good points.
