I know a lot of the Jeep guys I wheel with run bead locks to keep the tires on the rims at low air pressures. Anyone ever seen a wheeler with beadlocks?
Would there be any benefit for woods riding?

hmmmm..my yz has rim locks, as that the same thing??? i believe they are bead locks.,most bikes have em, they lock the bead to the rim to stop the tires from spinning on the rim, i never seen anything like em on a quad though ...interesting post !!! i look foreward to hearing everyones opinions

Yep, rim locks would be the same as bead locks.
For us Jeepers, we air down to 8-10psi with larger tires on narrow rims, and use the bead locks to keep the seal so we don't spin the tire off the rim to increase out contact patch over rocks and rough terrain.

I was just thinking back to a few times when I was younger, riding my uncle's 3wheeler, and had to ride home on a flat; waiting for that tire to fling off. Bead locks would have been great back then. lol

hmmm..well i have em on my bike, two on both rims....if they meke em for a tire as wide as a jeep tire , then im sure with some research you can find em for atv or utv vehicles as well...

wow, approx 220 per rim... I gasp a little now, but I bet when I'm waddling my wheeler out of a gravel pit or down a rough trail because I blew the bead and can't get back to the trail head, I'll sure wish I'd spent the money... lol

Look into OMF Beadlocks or even Champion Beadlocks, the hipers are great but studies have shown that in some instances the HIPERS are a lot heavier while spinning than an aluminum body thus slowing you down.

Beadlocks have been used on atvs as far back as the 80's at least for sure, Im surprised you'd never seen them yet. Definately a great dress up item as well.

My background in wheelers is very limited. I was sure I'd seen em, I just hadn't paid much attention at the time, as I wasn't an owner or frequent operator.

Thanks everyone for the info so far. I'm going to look into a set, at least for the rear.
