i have a ported 240 bbk , dont know what it was ported for, have stock block ,have vforce 2 reeds, reed spacer, billet intake with 34mm boot, 34mm mikuni carb stock air box k n filter. couple ?s should i be running a br9es or br8es plug, and should the timing be advanced, it runs good but doesnt seem to have the power i had when i was running a stock cylinder with a power piston in it. it surges on idle and i have sprayed every part on motor. no air leaks, is that my stator saying advance me or what. i know some about 2 strokes, but putting this bbk on it seeems to be a bigger project than i thought it would be. need some help

you need to get rid of the stock airbox for starters and you need to play with your jets what are you running right now in it? that ported bbk is going to haul ass when you get it tuned correctly also get rid of the boost bottle, doesnt do sh*t. drop to a 320-310. you can advance the timing but it has nothing to do with what the problem is. A Carb with plugged up low speed jets can do that,,,but usually after attempts are made to "adjust " the carb for the odd running.
reed gaskets, carb mount hose, cylinder base gasket, crank seals can also cause it.

have new reed pedals, new intake boot, no leaks from air box to cylinder, how do you check the crank seal, i have sprayed all seams on motor crank cover and stator cover. the bike runs well just doesnt seem to have much power. have a pro circuit 2 platnium pipe and silencer, it idles high than low30 secs high than 30secs low high low high low and does the heat range on the plug make a differance, my plug color is rite darkish grey no blistering its not running lean . stock cylinder with power piston and stock carb 300 main in it and everything eles (and no i dont have a boost bottle on it) listed it would pull the tires off the ground all though 6 gears ,it will barly pull them up at all now. doesnt bogg or stutter just doesnt have much power. guess ill have to get a adjustable stator to see if timing is off or does some one know something else,oh yea the stock air box has beeen modyfied to fit 34 mm carb no lid on it and high performance filter

34 mikuni carb its not stock. does any body know anything about heat ranges on plugs

no sh*t man.... what im trying to say is it seems weird that you ran a 300 main with a stock jug and mods, now with a ported and polished BBK you only jumped to a 330. jsut seems like it shuld hae been a bigger jump, and you said your plug was on the grey side? i like a nice pancake brown myself. good luck dude hope you get it figured out.

well i had a stock carb with the stock jug thats why i was running a 300 main. with the 34mm carb i am running a 330 main but i found the problem, the vfroce 2 reeds i put new pedals on when i rebuilt the top end ,well i pulled them out and the cage was coming apart ,so i put the vforce 3s i got some years ago and never used well it is like nite and day what a differance the 3s work much better, i never liked them because of the small opening on the intake side ,well they seam to work better than the twos im sold now, i will not rebuild the twos again ill go with the threes thanks for your help though. im gonna go back out to the dirt road
behind my house and throw some more dirt around ,its runnin great now, wow small problems can really cause some major head scratchin .but every time i tear it apart i learn somthing new, never to old,47 and still terrorizin the younguns round here

oh super nobber with a new plug chop i have got a color closer to tan than grey
, i like that tan color my self but im still tuning on it i went to a 310 main 330 was a little to rich and raised the needle to 2nd from bottomyou got me thinkin and im glad i changed it what a differance
