its common sense when u think about it 99lrd- what does advancing the timing ?

its the number of degrees before top dead center and the spark will ignite the air/fuel mixture in the combustion chamber during the compression stroke. not rocket science, especially on a 2 stroke.

Are you talking to me? :-/ I'm perfectly aware of what it does. Stock Blaster timing is 16*@3000rpms and I am running at 21* now. I:I

you guys are ridiculous, i have been running +4 timing on my trail bike for over a year now not one problem yet I:I my motor setup loves it. if i told you it was proven that if you dont brush your teeth they will get whiter would you go around telling people that? would you not brush your teeth? ***another question for you is even if you just trail ride every weekend like me, why the hell would you not want all the power you can possibly get out of your machine??? thats just dumb smoker imo

stop feeding people "your feelings" or what your brain washed into thinking, if you want to state your opinion on the matter thats fine (as specialized did) but dont act like you invented the wheel

now back to the questions that were asked in this thread..................

@ 150psi try running avgas its 100 octane and only 4.50 / gallon (can be bought at any small airport) it burns great in my bike, much snappier low end and way more throttle response. just go up a few sizes on your main because it contains oxygen in it. I:I

some dirty ass, missing teeth, tramp came in my buddies garage the other day, very nice ass his brother commented, but after she left he said
"if she don't take care of her teeth, she don't take care of whats underneath"

now had she advanced her timing, gargled and douche'd with av gas, she wouldn't have them problems

What's funny is $4.50/gal for 100 octane is a badass deal nowadays. :(
 
some time ago when i first started running avgas it was about 3.30/ gallon at the same airport. shows the increase over the last year alone... X(

I pay $6.79/gal for Sunoco/Cam 2 110 but I mix it 3:2 with 93 premium to get me around 103-4 octane. I can pick up AV gas, but I've heard some negative things about high RPM use with it, although a lot of ATV guys use it and seem not to have issues, but to each their own. I'm sure VP fuels are a lot more effective than standard Sunoco 110 with no oxygenated fuel, but I'm not paying that much for fuel. :o

yeah it is my opinion, i was giving it to toxic and thats all, no one brain washed me into thinking it, i have seen the worst out of advancing timing, and my PREFERENCE is to not go over 2* im always a safe side guy, i would rather spend money on modifcations than rebuilds. im glad u guys have had good luck with it. my opinion, not feelings.

around here friggin race gas 110 is 10.00 a gallon, i mix 50/50 with 93, and she ran like a champ, av gas is just as good too, cheaper than race gas

Well obviously if timing is advanced 15 degrees, that's another story. You should see how much old model camaros advance timing. :o Safe side we have seen is +4 if you have your engine set up correctly. I am running +5 for now....might go +6, but I doubt it. I believe Conquest is going +6 on his engine right now. I'm sure you can go much farther. It's just a matter of people trying it. If you would rather spend money on modifications instead of rebuilds you should of stopped at the stroker, porting, pipe, etc. If you are that fearful of it, I'm surprised you haven't retarded your timing as that will decrease heat. Any increase in performance is going to be detrimental to engine life....that's just the way it works.....got to pay to play. Like any other mod, you just have to be knowledgeable about it and know the limits of what you are doing. I:I

What kind of gas is $10.00/gal? Hell I'd switch to VP fuels at that price.

I appreciate your input as well and thanks for looking out but i wana run it balls out. im the only one with a blaster the other guys i ride with have yfz450, z400, 400ex. so cant leave them any room to sh!t no what i mean lol. and last year when i was still taking the car to the track cam2 was at $10.75
 
i say move your timming back to stock and see what it does
on a side note send that 240 out for some porting and any of them 400ex's will go home all but hurt
 
Avgas isn't rated at the same octane scale as pump gas... the aghast works out to be about 91 octane but it being leaded kills predetonation better. It also Burns cleanerand more efficient. I'm seriously considering running it myself
