I came across an 'o2 Banshee axle for $85. Wondering if this will fit on my '91 Blaster?? How much wider is this than the stock Blaster axle?? Will the rear brake mount still work ? How bout the Stock sprocket??
It is 1 5/8 inches longer a side.Just under 4 inches total. It will go right in with the banshee brake hub.All else will interchange(lock nuts, sprocket hub,rotor,etc.).You can use the stock mechanical brake.P.M. unstock240 he is using the mechanical brake and got it down pat.I gave him info when he put his in but I converted to hydros.AND FOR THE RECORD IT DOES WORK.ANY CONFLICTING INFO IS WRONG.
^^^He helped me out with info and yep works great. The only thing you need to buy is a banshee style brake hub and axle, thats it. If you want the mechanical caliper to work you need 2 longer bolts. PM me for details I got it all figured out. I measured myself and it is for sure over 3 1/2" wider measured with a yardstick haha.
I think he is saying that because nobody was really sure. I could never find the exact answer until I measured it myself. I measured mine and it is 3 5/16" just over 3.5 inches wider i am certain.
or make a collar instead of buying a brake hub, yes you can make te stock caliper 'work', but it will not be as effective... if you guys are leaving bolts loose and hoping loctite works, I really hope you are smart enough to use an overlength bolt and drilled for a cotter/hitch pin or safety wire....
not as effective? I can put skidmarks down an asphault road. its not going to back out they are loctited permanent with nylon locknuts, and it is jamnutted against the caliper mount itself since it has threads. On top of that I staked it in with a centerpunch. Have you ever used the 262 loctite? I have stripped threads on the nuts trying to break this stuff loose. I think making a collar would be kind of hard since it needs splines to keep the rotor from spinning. Unless your talking about shimming up the stock hub, but then you have only about 1/8thick shim which wouldnt be too strong.
the collar goes between the blaster brake hub and the lacating ridge on the banshee axle. and there's more to brakes then locking up the tires, things like very slight pressure on the rear brakes can impreove tracking in whoops....
