backwards piston

I looked at a 97 blaster for a guy today[he wants me to repair it].it was super clean until I pulled the jug.Piston and cylinder walls had a gouge and scratches,rod bearing seized,but best of all the 1st thing I noticed was the piston was in backwards.He said he had owned it for a year and had been riding it,but I was really slow but ran until it locked up.Has any 1 else ever seen a quad with the piston in wrong?

Yup see a few 2 strokes with pistons in the wrong way, they will run but often a piston ring will snag a port and tear up the innards.

this 1 had a little piece of ring on top of piston.Owner is supposed to be buying another blaster for the motor.Im supposed to put the motor in his in exchange for $100 his old motor and the donor blaster

Ha, Ive seen that before too. I got a motor that the rings were put in upside down .He said he filed the ends of the get clearance so they would fit around the pins ....like the instructions said !
