ok look my friend bought this thing as a small project turns out its worse then we thought. its a 2000 blaster with the stock 200cc. when we got it, it would only start on ether and then after it warmed up it would start first kick and idle. so i rebuilt the carborator and all it did was backfire once but 10 minutes later a rebelious reed cage bolt loosened up and blew through the reed cage gasket, so i pulled it apart again and we ordered a new gasket but i got the old gasket back on track, so we put it together and it sarted after 5 minutes of kicking but now all its doing is backfiring and it wont throttle fully and its bogging itself down and tweeking the throttle pin is doing nothing. now we tried popping the clutch thinking mabye if we could get in running full out it would fix the problem but it didnt, it started and throttled right but it died trying to sit still and keep it running and i think theres still a intake leak maybe but im not sure. any suggestions?:-/

leakdown test

compression test

check the conditions of the reeds

if you don't know what any of these things are, this site is a wealth of information on all of these subjects

i know what your talking about. i was actually planning to do a leak down test after the rain past. the compression is amazing in it i checked that out already. there is a very small gap inbetween the reeds and housing all the way at the tip its probably maybe a milimeter or two. would that cause it?

yes, flip the reeds over for a temporary fix and see if they seal up. then give her another shot.

a little RTV on that reed cage gasket is a good idea

i actually already flipped them and they still had a gap so ill get a new set and try em, any suggestions on new reeds? and what is RTV?

RTV comes in a tube and is a sealer.

try some new reeds, boyesen are popular and are what i have on mine right now

ok man im gonna let my friend know and ill let you know what happens after we replace the reeds. i thank you very much.

no problem, do the leakdown before you tear it apart though, just to be sure there are no other issues

well petes cycle decided a reed set was one side of reeds, and the reeds are to big for the reed spacer, whiuch they didnt6 include so we had to use the old one, i think it had after market reeds cause the old reed flaps are small and the ones they said were stock, are the lenght and width of the reed cage. it has helped the idle but its still accdelerating oddly and it over accelerated when not in gear driving. im gonna guess thats from the reedsa not being right. theres still a gap in the new supposite stock reed flap which im guessinmg is because it has the wrong spacer. im going mad here, im about ready to go cuss petes cycle out or calmy talk to them. i havent decided, i need some help. it has good compression, no leaks, its now based around the reeds.
