Axle Lock Nut Suggestions?

So the axle lock nuts have been not wanting to stay tight!! The quad is at my brothers place and he only has one monkey wrench and it's just barely big enough to get on there, and then I can't get much force on there. I have some big ones at my house but, yeah, they're not where they were needed!!

So I'm thinking about the aftermarket locking ones. Which one is best?? Is modquad the only option for my stock axle?? Thanx.

i grabbed a g-force axle locknut on ebay for cheap, but lonestar makes them too
get a cheater bar on them monkey wrenches and use locktite,
or drill and tap your outer locknut and install an allen set screw

I just use a 2" wrench, its about the same size and the open end will work tighten each nut one at a time, worked for me

Is that a feasible option? Do you know that it can be done?? I would if it could be done. Do you mean a set screw axially (in line with the axle) to apply pressure to the other bolt? Or drill a hole and tap it for a set screw and then make a relief cut like the aftermarket ones have??

Red locktite seems like a cheap solution though!!

well, after replacing carrier bearings and seals, the axel nuts where always coming loose
So i should have put some locktight in the treads
but i didn't have any, but i did have a arc welder so ....

A minute with a decent body grinder & the welds will be gone - a simple tack weld would of sufficed nicely ;)

We use a big crecent wrench to jam the nuts up good & tight, maybe its 2.5 - 3ft long - they don't loosen.
