Hi, i recently bought a chinese atv about 3 months. i noticed it was burning through oil and i automatically thought it was the rings. does anybody know if there if any other explanations to the quad burning through the oil? and how hard would it be to find the rings that i need? would i need a piston too? could it be the oil im using? any help would be appreciated :)

if its a two stroke its designed to burn oil, if its a 4 stroke...well..."made in china" is the problem. you may need a new piston, but its impossible to say without seeing it

noo its a 4 stroke made in china lol i truly dont like it but i dont see anyone wanting to take it me for the right price, but the question is-how hard is it to find the piston i need, or are 4 stroke pistons universal at all?

some of the chinese quads are honda clones, if so, you can use parts from a honda. the plus side to that is, anything you use that is honda is designed better and out of better materials. if it is a 50cc or 70cc it may be a honda clone being as honda makes the crf50f and crf70f and alot of chinese companies like to make clones of those motors. if it is a 110cc but is a honda clone, you could switch the entire top end and down size it to the honda 70cc top end. hope this helps.

is the bike smoking?I would contact the manufacturer or the place that you purchased it from and find out about parts for it.Did the bike come with a service manual? and how old is the machine??? Are you sure there is no oil leaks coming from the engine??

blaner-where are the valve stem seals?

caseywood5-the atv is supposively a 250 but i see no displacement numbers on it. and it even feels like theres not even power to be a 250. but thanks anyway :)

CHutzell-the quad is smoking a lot but 2 quarts of oil last me like 2 or 3 hours. i purchased the quad used so no history of anything or a manual, the quad is a 2008, it may be leaking a little oil

i would scrap it but im a working kid and im young ..i have to buy for my own quad and maintain it but i want to fix this p.o.s. and buy my friends 93 blaster

Google/e-bay will be your best friend. You'll be lucky to find parts for it. It's going to cost you around $100 to fix it anywhere near good. If it were me I'd change the oil out with synthetic oil so it don't smoke as bad and get rid of it. We all learn from our mistakes, and I'm still learning 58 yrs later :o
