Depends on what kinda 4 stroke bike your talking about. A 300 or 400ex will run for years with the oil changed every now and then and the air filter cleaned every few rides. Just like a Blaster.
But a titanium valved race ready 450 KFX, LTR YFZ or TRX, that's a whole nother story
Agreed. Quads for the most part are detuned quiet a bit so that does help with reliability.. But I have seen many 250 and 450F dirt bikes drop valves and make a mess, or throw cranks through the cases. Of course if you keep up on matainace and spend some cash on good engine valve train parts they can hold together longer, but they are a nightmare of work compared to a 2stroke
