OK, so I have a Blaster a few questions.

1) How do I tell the year of the Blaster... How do I tell if it is a special edition, I believe it is a 2006 but not sure... need to be for sure.

2) Something is wrong with it, a mouse chewed the oil line (My father would not let me mix gas) so My engine went for awhile without oil. The reeds were horrible so I got new ones, still nothing. Any ideas, it will start but just starts in low gear then dies after like 2 seconds, it backfires about 1/5 of the time. Also you cannot kickstart it, you have to pushstart it...

3) A continuation of 2, I can push the fourwheeler when it is in gear. Maybe the clutch???

4) What is a good place to get some parts, I will probably need to order some...

5) I am looking to get a dirtbike after I fix my fourwheeler... Should I sell my blaster (Mostly stock except for FmF powercore 2 SST silencer, an FmF Gold series head pipe, and Boyesen Power reeds) or save up money to just get one and keep my blaster.

6) For Boyesen power reeds, do I need the stock cage type thing the screws in on the outside of the actual reeds, it came with a metal bar the lines the bottom where the screws screw in... reeds like the stock ones (Prob diff material) and a plate thing that goes behind the reeds.

7) I took the top part of the top end off (The part that when you take it off, you can only see the top of the piston) but cant get the bottom part off because 2 of the 4 bolts are stripped... Anyway I can get these off?

8) when putting the reeds on, one of the bolts that go through the carb connecter and the reeds, one bolt broke, will this make a difference, if so, where can I get a new one, How can I get the bottom part out?

Sorry about all the long question but I am new to the mechanic world, and can use all the help I can get...

I can fix it, I just need to know what is wrong with it, lol. It seems that everything is wrong... If I could just get those 2 bolts off.

1 I think it's the 10th digit in the serial number on the side lf the frame. an 03+ will have a hood like mine. it will also have hydrolic disc brakes, front and rear. special editions don't really matter. same quad with stickers

2. this is probably why your motor is not running properly now

3.don't wory about the clutch it's probably fine

4.rockymountainatv.com or cheapcycleparts.com

5. I would keep the blaster but i am bias. lol

6. yes use the factory reed stops. your reeds will break quickly without them

7. You took the head off. you probalby need a bore job and next sized up piston. you need to get the rest of the cylinder off. you can try to file flat sides on the nuts to fit a smaller wrench.

8. yes you need to remove the broken bolt and replace it. that will create an air leak which will cause a lean situation. that will fry your piston

Thanks, but what do you think is wrong with it, Ill go get a bolt soon, but need to get the money. I am not sure if I want to keep or sell yet, thinking about keeping. What do I do with the metal on the bottom that lines it, not use them, or just put them under the reed stops (Thanks for clearing up the name). Bore job? I know I probably need a new piston, but, what is a next sized up piston I will try that later today or tomorrow (it is 11pm here.)

You ran the motor with no oil on the piston. so it ran dry. hopefully you lost compression by the rings and piston overheating and melting away. You need to find a reputable machinist in your area and have him measure the cylinder and tell you what size piston you need. there are many people on here on here that can do the work for ya

Yeah, but any that live close, NWA Area (Northwest Arkansas) There is a mechanic shop right up the rode, was going to go up there and see if 1. I can get a job 2. If they can help me with the gay stripped bolt and now 3. If they can measure my cylinder.

1.) you tookthe head off, look at the bottom side of it in small numbers it will say 06..thats the year of motor and probably quad.
2.) Fix the oil line (Advanced auto parts sell line) And backfiring is most likely jetting.
3.) Not the clutch, poor compression (You need a topend rebuild most likely) that will also solve the running issue.
4.) Mini Quad Racing Parts, Cobra ECX Quads,DRR ATV's,Yamaha Raptor-Kool Kidz ATV
5.) Blaster isn't worth a ton of money but thats really your choice..
6.) those will all have to be aftermarket boysen to work
7.) You can get them off
8.) an auto parts store, tractor supply co. its most likely a metric bolt so it is an easy find. best way to remove is a pair of chanel locks.

Hope some of this helps... If not then throw the quad off a cliff and be done! LOL

Oh yeah, some other questions I had were, 1, can I paint the fenders, if so, what is the procedure. 2, How do I get the oil line off, I am just going to mix gas, I know you can buy a block off kit, but that is like 40$ and right now I cant afford that. and 3) does your key to your blaster work, mine doesnt, There is an extra wire on the bottom of the key that has nothing hooked up to it. All I know

So here is an all around updated reply, this should cover the post and everything.

have dear ole dad pony up and take it to get it fixed. if the line is fixed leave the oiling system hooked up.

location ? maybe a member on here can help ya out, if close enough, most will help for free just to help a fellow blaster rider out.

down load a clymers manual and do some reading. very helpful.

yes you can paint plastics, but if not done rite it will look bad and peel off.

nut on cyl, try to find a six point box end wrench or a flank drive box end wrench. that nut is a 12mm

the key should have all the wires hooked up.

My father, Gator (Dads friend), and I, are going to work on it, we can figure it out. I suspected the piston and rings, but, needed to make sure. I don't want the line hooked up because 1) I will never use it, so it is dead weight and 2) it is just more weight on a fourwheeler I am trying to make lighter...

get that cylinder off and check out how bad the piston is. i watched your video and can see what your saying. those two stripped cylinder bolts looks llike somebody used the wrong tool to attempt to remove them. your gonna have to fit something on them to loosin them up.

your key should have two wires going to it and from what it looks like one of the two has disconnected should try connecting it back up again.

i dont recommend painting the fenders. yours are mint blue and ud be ruining the value of them using paint.

if your keepin the bike and dont care for oil inj then just remove it. you also dont need a removel kit to do this. after removing the oil pump simply reinstall the shaft by itself works fine and free. MUST JET YOUR CARB FOR THIS mixxed fuel is thicker and jets need to be richer to make up for it. i recommend starting near a 270 main jet for your setup.

to get the oil line off there may be a metal clip holding the line on but just look at it. but if you properly remove the system you shouldnt need to undo the line at all.

last but not least DO YOUR RESEARCH and rock onn

Thanks, so, you are saying, keep the line on there but remove the thing that holds the oil! Never thought of that, thanks. I have no idea about jetting a carb, I have done nothing ever with a carbourator... Any links or video's
?
