any 1 work on 4 strokes

The area he's describing is a right angle gear reduction box that hangs off the side of the crankcase to turn the driveshaft out the back (and drop down the front driveshaft if this is a 4x4 model).

Even overheating the hell out of the engine shouldn't turn that gasket...

if she was ran hard put away muddy then ran hard again after months of sitting it would mess the seal up pretty good allowing fine dirt or dust to work its way in..it happens...keep in mind inches above where you are talking about is a breather hose that is known to leak profusely once the engine gets a lil hotI:I

The way you are describing running it is EXACTLY how I run my bayou... lol.

The gasket was leaking enough that he couldn't tell where it was coming from, it was probably completely blown out, not seeping. I would wonder when it was taken off/ changed and why if it were mine.

On the newer models the breather hose ran up under the fuel tank (towards the handlebars) and the older models the breather hose ran out the back (behind the tail light).

depends if we are talking about the 220 the breather from the factory spills right over the rear reduction box to the drive shaft. i think some of the 3004x4s did there also..just depends what day urs came off the line i guess

The 250's had the breather line off the cam gear cover and going up towards the handlebars.

They were all different I guess.... My bayou 400 4x4 had the braeather line coming off of the crankcase (right above that right angle drive box) but going out the back of the quad behind the tailight.
