A strange problem

This is strange. Last night I replaced my old chain/sprockets, kept everything to stock specs. I didn't do ANYTHING else. Now the quad won't 'wind out' in any gear. It just revs high in every gear(like its time to shift) and when I shift if immediately does the same thing in the next gear. I had it in 5th and it was doing maybe 15 mph at full throttle. Any help would be fantastic.

Are you sure you have front sprocket on correctly and its not just spinning? n that splines are good on shaft?

When I got it home from my friends house(a 5 minute trail ride that took 20 minutes) I gave everything a look over and everything looked ok. Would it even move if the front sprocket was on wrong?

No funny noises? Sounds like clutch like Fast said,, it's not disengaging all the way. Is anything restricting its movement? Like where the actuator is? If not that than try adjusting the clutch... Also make sure your brakes aren't locked up or a wheel or rear axle locked up.

I'll check it out this weekend. Thanks!

It sounds like that the clutch is not engaging for some reason.

Is there a little slack in the cable?

The clutch basket could have developed grooves, not allowing the plates to come together cleanly!

Could your friend have done you a favour and topped the transmission up with the wrong oil, (I have known it to happen)?

Were both sprockets replaced?

Maybe the fibre plates plain just worn out!

being you messed with just the sprockets, lets eximane the things you did touch.....
check the back sprocket hub to see if it's spinning on the axle, i've replaced 2 for buddies with worn splines, acts similar to a slipping clutch, or worse
