Nice bike! the 400ex should have been liquid cooled, and honestly i would think a z400 would blow a 400ex away.

they dont blow them away at all...the z just has better top end which makes i faster in straight lines, and the 400ex has better bottom end........so yes the z is faster in straight lines

the carb is from a yfz450 QUAD sorry if i added the r.....but they all werent fuel injected btw not until 08 or 09 i believe..

going to look at another blasty a friend has next week... i miss the blaster honestly.. but reverse is nice..

its not top heavy at all to be honest.. i took it out for a decent ride today ( where snow has melted enough to get through it )
the suspension is a little soft and ill adjust it a little.. but man.. i jumped over a decent sized log today and barely felt it.. im going to get +1 a arms and wheel spacers for the rear.. change the gearing up a little.. its geared low i believe..5th runs out quick. and i think if i drop a tooth in the front it will be just right.. also looking at doing the reverse gear rev limiter mod.. it limits how fast you go backwards and is kind of a pain in the ass if you need to rev out a little in reverse..stock 1/4 throttle it hits the rev limiter..

maybe your heavier than me and my dad cause he is at 200lbs and im about 180 and it sits up way to high for my likeing, and my dads...but i guess its cause were used to sittin on a sleek and slow 400ex my dad actually perfers not to ride the kfx when we go riding just be cause of the high feeling. but i think its cause the suspension doesnt have very much sag to it when we sit on it.......not sure how much you weigh considering maybe you sag the suspension more if you heavier (take no offense to that man)

Yeah i dident know for sure i would just think it would be better because of the newer technology in the motor(liquid cooling).

yea.......it deff has some pep to these machines, theres not doubt about that....to tell ya the truth i could picture a piped z400 beating a stock 450 in a drag race to tell you the truth

The new z400s are fuel injected.

my cousin had the same quad besides with the cylinder works 434 kit,full fmf,stage 2 hotcams...........with 18in rears it was a real fast machine

I had a 99 400ex and my buddy had a 03 z400 and I would take him off the line and then he would get me in the top end, so I support your statement. I love my 06kfx but I loved the way my ex handled better. I would like the two to mate and then I would ride its offspring.
