if you have someone who fully understand suspension with the proper equiptment and knowledge then yes, done right by a professional your probably better off buying a set unless your just play riding then i've heard of people doing it, as far as knowing anyone credible to do this i have not heard of such a person
 
i bought a widening kit from Diamond J Customs. it essentially pushes out the mounting spots for the A arms from the center of the frame. the kit is made from heavy duty steel and is powder coated. i have never had any of the kit bend and ive whacked a few trees while riding. i got the +6 kit and it looks mean.
