hi, i posted a question but i dont see it on the forum so i am posting it again just in case. do i have to crack the case to replace the shifter shaft(gear kick lever) seal? and do i have to crack the case to replace the crank seals? and are any of these seals easy to replace? any help would be greatly appreciated. thanx

are they easy to replace? i only know how to do the top end, dont know to much about the seals and stuff.

They really aren't that bad. If you are mechanincally inclined and pay attention it won't be a prob. The shifter shaft seal is the easiest. Just take off the shifter lever and use something to pry it out. A small screwdriver works ok.

The crank seals require removal of the side covers and flywheel/stator and clutch assembly and gears, respectively. Special tools = flywheel puller. An impact wrench is damn useful but it can be done with hand tools. You will need the manual. It's nice to see how it is supposed to come apart and go back together. You do not need to pull the motor, but you will need to remove the right footpeg.
