87 250 suzuki on CL

are suzuki lt250's really that bad? i hear a lot of people down the old lt's? i have been wanting one forever and if i was closer i'd scoop it up.

what is so bad about them that makes people talk negatively about them?

like anything they have there quirks.. everyone was more fond of the honda 250r due to its supirour suspension.. but me owning a lt.. i love it...

The LT isn't a bad quad. The problem during that time is somewhat the same thing you see today in that Honda and Yamaha dominate the market still. The TRX especially in 88-89 I believe had an ingenious chassis and the stock suspension was brilliant for it's time when aftermarket shocks weren't readily known about and you couldn't hop on the internet in the late 80s and order stuff. Put yourself in people's shoes back in the late 80s...no computers, no cells, only a local dealer with a selection of bikes and then if you had the know how of knowing people, you could get a whiff of people with parts catalogs for pipes, shocks, etc.

My dad's 86 LT seems pretty good. Granted, a lot of time and money has gone into it.
