My tecate build is finally starting to look like something, so I thought I'd post some pics. It's a budget build, mainly wanted to freshen all the bearings and clean it up all nice like, and give it a once over. At this point, I don't even know if it runs lol. It was missing the kickstart when I got it, and when I finally got a hold of one, it seems the kick gear mechanism is slipping. Pretty much all I have left to get is rear tires, plastics, and a few odds and ends. During the tear down I also discovered that it has a PVL ignition on it. As of now I'm waiting on a bunch of parts in the mail. Besides replacing all of the chassis bearings, I installed a 2001 raptor shock and rebuilt the front forks.

First the before shot:

It's a strut bar for the rear suspension. 85-90 LT250R's are set up the same way. My LT is the same way.

Thanks for the replies guys, it keeps me motivated. This is my second tecate, I had one back In the day and regretted selling it since. Updates this weekend.

Finally some updates. It's close now, mainly I need front and rear plastics, chain and sprockets, and some odds and ends. I couldn't resist throwing the old fenders on and taking it for a rip. It starts easy after some carb cleaning and jet changes, and goes through the rpms great, just having trouble with the idle. It idles a litlle sporadically (sp?) then slowly stalls. If I turn the idle adjust up just a hair, it idles too high, and down just a hair it dies off sooner. I have a 40 pilot (new) and the air screw @ 1-3/4 turns out. Maybe the float level is too high and it's loading up, or maybe a bigger pilot? Regardless, it's an animal. I need to gear it up some, as the 18's really gave it wayyy too much low end grunt. Stock it's geared for 22's. When I really get on the gas, I have to lean up over the bars to keep the front end even near the ground. It's a bit dirty in these pics as I snapped them right after a short ride, and the beat up fenders really detract from the look, but here ya go.

nice!! you really brought this thing to life!! great work! only thing i would have done different is a new shiny pipe lol and would put some 20's in those 10's not 18.

Thanks guys. I really wanted Fast Trekkers and they don't come in a 10x20 size, so I had to get 18's. I agree though, 20's would have looked better. And the only pipe still available new is a DG. The stocker isn't a bad pipe though, it isn't all restrictive like most atv pipes, it's more like a motocross bike pipe. But now I'm on the slow hunt for plastics (discontinued) and any fancy aftermarket goodies I can gather up. Usually on my builds it's money slowing me down, with the Tecate, it's the hunt for parts that slows me down lol.
