You should have a starter relay (botton center right on the diagram above)
it should have two bolts that connect two thick wires (red ) one from batt (+) to relay and one from relay to starter .
next connect the batt (-) to a good ground
The relay should also have two small spade connectors ? or a 2 pin plug ?
Connect one connector to ground and "TOUCH" the other one to the batt (+) it should now turn on the starter

i've wired a 1957 Austin a30 and a 1970 Ford Capri (engine compartment fire harness had melted ) redid from scratch
Get the closest scematic possible to your engine (they vary alot from year to year) then print like 10 copys of it and overline with a yellow marker the individual circuits
A harnesse is just a junction of several simple circuits if you take one at a time you'll see that it's not that complicated
