400ex shock / bigger carb airbox?

Does anyone have a 400ex shock and bigger carb mounted onto their blaster? And what did you do about an airbox with them?

I know with bigger carb i need to either modify airbox or buy aftermarket aluminum one. But what about with a 400ex shock and its big resevoir mounted on top?

the aftermarket airboxes fit around the 400ex shock. so will the stock box with a little cutting. I had a stock airbox with a 30mm oko and a 400ex shock on my cousins blaster. it worked

civicdude makes boxes, cfm too. both of them fit around the shock.

I just did this 10 minutes ago with a z400 rear shock. 30mm OKO with a stock airbox and it was a little tight but it works.

factory 7 boxes do not allow the 400ex or z400 shock

but I know for a fact that they work with a trx450r. never tried mine with the ex though

you might wanna clean that airfilter. lol^^^^^^^^^^^^^

also push down on the grab bar with the seat off to make sure the shock doesn't pivot into the airbox

It was dark when I took the pics. Lol it's not that dirty and it did it doesn't move much.

I don't like the way that the CFM boxes mount.... They have these little "bosses" made on the sides that are supposed to bolt to parts of the frame. Unfortunately, they've been so far off before that the box didn't sit right under the seat.

I made my airboxes with "hooks" to hang over the frame (2 per side) and then the tube going down to the carburetor.

Fit around the 400ex shock with LOTS of space:

i have the F7 and my cousin runs SCD box. the SCD is much easier to deal with than mine

That's a 450R shock with the reservoir set off to the right side of the quad. However the 400ex shock fits about the same way (just a little closer to the tube)
