400 shocks

A lot of you already know i just did a +4 swing arm, but the 03 z400 shock sucks ASS!!! it is way to bouncy, i hit a jump and the back end bounced back up and him me in the ass.
So... I'm looking for a new shock for the back, it was set on soft and i adjusted it all the way to firm and it doesn't make a differance i've read the "cheap shocks" thread and thats why i got the 03 and didn't know it was sh*t. I mainly want what year the shock is your running, they all look exactly the same from the pictures, i dont want to spend another 80+ for the same piece of sh*t i already have.

Did you relocate the shock mount? Cause if you didn't that would mess up the geometry of the rear suspension which could be why it feels bouncy.

your spring is way too stiff for a blaster, unless you are a fatass. There should be a rebound damping screw somewhere on it. The valving is stiff as hell too. Did you adjust the pre load on it? This is a half assed operation at best, you had better find a better way to secure the shock to the bottom mount because that looks pathetic. Ot you have an oil leak on the shock, that would cause it to be bouncy also

If your shock is "bouncey" then its probably blown. The reason the shock unloads and smacks you in the ass is because its all spring without any oil or nitrogen left in the shock

Your going to need a stiffer spring to compensate for the added leverage provided by the added length of the swingarm

well considering that the 400 is about 80 lbs heavier than the blaster and the 400 already has a longer swingarm so it is already compensated for.

How the hell is that half assed? granted the pin holding it in is from the blaster shock and needs to be shorter, how else would you like it mounted? Its not going anywhere man that sh*t is solid.

why dont you thread the shaft and put a bolt on it? Using a little piece of wire is not solid at all

That is the exact bolt and cotter pin from the blaster, and its good enough to hold that shock on?

You can buy a stock trx 250r rear shock for 60 bucks or less. I jabe never ran on but hear they work great.

Mount looks fine dude. I like how someone always says "just buy some works." Like that is actually a solution for someone on a budget. We wouldn't be trying to fit shocks from a 250r or other quads on our blasters if money wasn't a thing. I have 400ex shocks front and rear on my blaster for less than $60 rides like a dream...Now compared to about a grand for front and rear works?

yeah the 400ex rear goes on pretty easy, just need to drill out the bottom mount a little to fit the blaster pin. And find a copper or steel bushing from a hardware store and a matching bolt. Some have had to cut or heat and bend the air box. I only had to remove my snorkel or w/e its called. The front ex shocks are a little different. If you have access to some scrap 1/8 in steel a band saw, drill press, and a wire welder its easy and a hell of a lot cheaper than a widening kit.
