i have and 89 suzuki quadrunner 250 4x4 (lt4wd). it will not idle until after it has been riden for about 10min. after that it will idle as long as there gas in the tank. i just wondering y that is?

Just like on a 2-stroke, the carb has to be properly set-up. If a bike is slightly lean on the bottom, it may act that way until it gets nice and hot. I would check the float level on the carb.... Start there.

ok would the level need to go down or up? i just pulled the carb again and the air/fuel mixture screw is 2 turns out would that affect anything?

does it smoke when its cold, If cleaning the carb doesn't help I would venture to say the rings are a lil worn and won't seal good enough to keep it running until it has warmed up a bit.

yeah it smokes more than a freight train lol
i think that may be the answer because i pulled the carb off again and recleaned and adjusted the float and it still wont idle

i've been meaning to rebuild it but it still runs so i havent messed with it and on top of that i dont want to f it up but also dont want to pay the dealer an arm and both of my legs lol

i just bought some oil seal stuff hopefully this will put off a rebuilt for a couple of months lol

if it dont o well i only bought the thing for $250 not running and all i had to do was clean the carb and then the oil seal on the bottom went out (i think that is y i need a rebuilt ran it hot) but all in all not bad for the price

I've been riding a 1990 Quadrunner 250 for years. Bulletproof is an understatement. Only problem I've had is U-joints... can't keep a pair on them because the new ones are hollow instead of solid like OEM

hmmm, the one i bought from Napa looked basically the same and it was $20 where down the road at the dealer it was $50 (the u-joint in the 4x4 shaft), i have only had it in for like 3 months but havent really taken it out to test it, but i did find one mud hole that i had to use 4x4I:I. where i ride they just got done logging it

also do u know how to change the rear wheel bearings in these things?
i pulled the a arm off and couldnt figure it out :-/

I'll have to try napa next time I do the u-joints actually :) thanks for that much
As for bearings, I have a manual laying around at a buddy's (the quad gets passed around a lot and I don't mind because I have a wolverine 450 and my blaster to ride) So I'll scan that in for you as soon as i find my manual.
My first guess would be they are kinda the same way as a drum brake blaster front end, try taking off the brake drums and see what you can do from there. Try that and ill see if I can find my manual.
But really, those early 90's quadrunners are unstoppable. Mine isnt 4X4. I just keep snapping off the inner U joins on the rear.

when i was looking at it i had everything off of it and the a arm off. i hit the hub spines with a rubber hammer and all that happened was a s*** load of rust fell out:o lol
hey man if u wont mind when u scan stuff would u mind scanning the section on how to rebuild the top end?

but i know what u mean about unstoppable! mine is smoking worse than a chimney and its still going! not to mention it has zero brakes (not even a shoe in it!) hahaha
