Just like on a 2-stroke, the carb has to be properly set-up. If a bike is slightly lean on the bottom, it may act that way until it gets nice and hot. I would check the float level on the carb.... Start there.
does it smoke when its cold, If cleaning the carb doesn't help I would venture to say the rings are a lil worn and won't seal good enough to keep it running until it has warmed up a bit.
I've been riding a 1990 Quadrunner 250 for years. Bulletproof is an understatement. Only problem I've had is U-joints... can't keep a pair on them because the new ones are hollow instead of solid like OEM
hmmm, the one i bought from Napa looked basically the same and it was $20 where down the road at the dealer it was $50 (the u-joint in the 4x4 shaft), i have only had it in for like 3 months but havent really taken it out to test it, but i did find one mud hole that i had to use 4x4I:I. where i ride they just got done logging it
also do u know how to change the rear wheel bearings in these things?
i pulled the a arm off and couldnt figure it out :-/
I'll have to try napa next time I do the u-joints actuallythanks for that much
As for bearings, I have a manual laying around at a buddy's (the quad gets passed around a lot and I don't mind because I have a wolverine 450 and my blaster to ride) So I'll scan that in for you as soon as i find my manual.
My first guess would be they are kinda the same way as a drum brake blaster front end, try taking off the brake drums and see what you can do from there. Try that and ill see if I can find my manual.
But really, those early 90's quadrunners are unstoppable. Mine isnt 4X4. I just keep snapping off the inner U joins on the rear.
Sell it lol! My old 250e 4x4 quadrunner was the biggest headache know to man.
unstoppable... definitely
We pulled one out of the LAKE and it lived to tell the tale.
