312's plug

Went for a brief ride tonight to see if the blaster would act up in the cold (-11*C, that 13*F)..and it did, twice in a period of no more than 10 minutes. I'm running a 270 main with my pro circuit with the lid off, It ran strong all summer, so I put the lid back on tonight to see how it would run. This is the first time I have ran it on the road in a long time.

I didnt make it a half a click down the road and it dies, plug looked brown, so ok, it started right up again, headed back it dies again at the top of the hill just before my house lol so I just said, f**k it I'm gonna roll silently into my driveway, in the dark. lol

Sounds like you could be running really rich from not getting enough air. Was the plug wet when you took it out?

looks realy rich.. hows it run at wide open throttle??? how is the idle/ just off idle throttle responce?

It looks rich. I'd take the lid back off then bump up the main to 280 and see were that puts you.

my old blaster with my big ass no lid, fmf pipe was at a 280 for cold weather and 260-70 for warm.. if its dieing when coming off throttle. your piolot mught be to rich and causing it to foul out

I was at the top end 6th gear when it quit on me, throttle response is good.

lol, thats a drag if I have to change it, the 270 is highest I have, and I haven't had any luck with jets that ship cheap from the states.

I have a gut feeling its something to do with fuel, I could see air pockets in the fuel line, I think I will start there.

Yea, remove the petcock and clean. If that plug didn't foul to me it looks like safe winter jetting.

well I know its clean, I just drain my fuel out alot if its going to sit for a 1 week or 2 and if I dont, it slowly drips out the overflow.

Did it sputter at all like it was trying to stay running right before it died? If it didn't and just died it could be an electrical problem, such as the TORS if you didn't remove it or a ground thats loose. I had a loose ground wire at my coil and it caused it to start sputtering after a little while and then would eventually cause it to die.

I did the same thing tonight but with no lid, same route and it quit in the same two spots it did before!!! The plug looked alittle lighter in colour.

I kept getting these air pockets in the gas line so I curious how much gas I had in the tank, sure enough I have about a 1/4 tank,..I filled it up to say 1/2.

So I went for a run down the road instead and it didnt quit, mind you I was just cruising, I sorta live in a residential area, I got home and the plug looked better.

The 2nd run I did...ok, it wasnt really a run, more like 5th gear donuts in my driveway for a couple minutes.

I know this sounds dumb but your vent line on the fuel cap could be clogged. Worth a check.

^^agreed. i always richen out the 2 strokes a tad for the winter. im thinking you possibly have a loose connection/shorted wire somewhere?
