250r carb finally came...

the needle will come out of the top of the slide, you have to take the cable retaining stuff out to get it out, and there's a little e clip on it that you can move to different slots. jetting incorrectly CAN hurt the motor, but you're going to be rich enough that you're going to be safe, just work down in steps after it gets running.

hmm well i had the cap off along with the spring and i didnt see the clip... i might have to look again.. and what postion should i have the needle in with the 150main and 50 pilot? also the jets that were in the carb was 145main and 60 pilot should i get a new 145 or can i just reuse that one?

okay. so now i have a question... which boot do i need? the one going to my airbox? or the one towards the reed cage... the one going towards the airbox looks like there is no way in hell it will go on... and the one towards the reed cage looks like a tight fit.

I have the same carb on two of mine but no 240 BB. Pilot, get a 30, 35, 40, 45. I use the stock needle, you'll need to mess with the clip. Main, get a 200, 190, 180. That should get you close.

I spent the last two nights dialing in my carb and this is where I am. I'm running 93 pump gas pre mixed, 180 LBS static compression, K and N filter with open air box and outerwears cover, Toomy B1 pipe, duel stage reeds and a ported cylinder. I went from a 45 pilot to a 30. It was starting with no choke when it was cold. The smaller pilot fixed that. I have the air screw out 1 ¾ turns. When I whacked the throttle open, it would fire.......then hesitate............then wind out. I dropped the clip on the needle to the second from the bottom to make it richer. The result was instant throttle response with no hesitation. I have a 200 main in it. Just because this worked for me doesn't mean it will work for you but it will get you close. Again, I'm running a 34 mm flat slide from a 250R. The temp outside was 60 degrees when I did my jetting. These jets are probably too lean for low temps and riding in the winter. A good test is to start the quad and let it warm up. Let the engine idle and whack the throttle to wide open and release. The engine should bark with no hesitation or bog. You have to really whack the throttle open and close fast for this to work. Rich jetting will smoke and be slow to respond, lean will skip and miss. It's going to be like 70 degrees here in CT for the next couple of days and I'll be testing these specs quite a bit. I'll let you now later tonight how they work on the trails.
