Hey all, new to the group and read a few things about some blasters and idling issues, so here goes mine. Today i bought a used 04 blaster for $700, test rode it and it runs great shifts great but it won't sit and idle, my boyfriend and i already tried adjusting the air mixture but didn't do a thing...... any suggestions from the pros?? thanks bunches :)

yes it's still on there and it hasn't been spliced or cut, not fuel injected it's carb. as for fuel flow we will have to check tomorrow, long road trip to get this toy, lol. was thinking spark plug but my man said it runs fine and goes fine it just will literally not idle, have to keep giving it gas to keep it going

Might be a simple as turning up the idle screw. Check what AWK recommended and report back. Should be simple. Congrats on the new bike!

By injected they mean oil injection. Instead of premixing the oil there is a little tank under the rear fender on shifter side that holds the two stroke oil and from there it goes into through a small tube into the right side of motor/rear brake side into a small pump that injects the oil into the carb. Hence oil injection.

Some leave oil injection on some remove it.. If its on than do not premix. There is a thread on here that talks about oil injection delete and such. If you are new to two strokes and blasters take a little time and read through some of the stickies in this forum about leak testing, Tors, oil injection, jetting etc.. Trust me you will be glad you did. It might seem like a lot to take in at first but before you know it , it will all make sense..

I should clarify. Oil injection manually mixes the oil and gas so you do not have to pre mix your oil and gas. Most of the time people are used to mixing gas with two strokes where you pre the oil and gas to different ratios. On a blaster and some other machines there is oil injection..

thanks super stoked hope it's not a too big of task, i get some grief from my man as he is a polaris and kawasaki guy and i'm the yamaha girl, LOL

Atta girl. We are backwards. I just got the wife a Polaris. Don't mind the username, that's before I modded the hell out of the blaster. She wasn't a big fan so we got her something a little more tame. You'll enjoy it. It's one of the most versatile and reliable quads in my opinion.

for further info the box ontop of the carb has a large flathead screw on it[I believe you have to remove the seat to get at it]you turn this screw clockwise to raise counterclockwise to lower your idle

check, clean and re-oil the air filter too.
if it's dirty it could cause idle probems.
