i just picked this blaster up last night for a good price. The float was stuck so I took off and cleaned today. The problem is, it will start but it will not idle. (you have to keep giving it gas and then it still sounds like it wants to flood.) The Tors switch is still installed on top of carb but it is bypassed. (the y/b wire from cdi is connected to ground which bypasses carb and throttle switch). It has a fmf fatty pipe w/ sc2 silencer. I was told that it had a dyno- jet kit installed. looks like a 220 main, 32.5 pilot and clip is in slot 3 and air screw is 1 and 1/2 turns. I was also told that it had boyessen reeds. What am I missing?

I thought it needed a 260 jet but was unsure since it is a dyno kit that comes with needle and main. Everything else I read stated to use stock needle so was unsure since dyno had replacement needle

Am I on track with the jets or could it be something with the tors? I do understand that jetting needs to be correct but would that keep it from idling. Previous owner stated that it ran fine with jet kit. I will start with the jet. Dyno-jet website states for a stage 2 setup that a 360 main is to be used. wtf?

Ok, with choke all the way out it idles and runs decent (not perfect) around the house, but as soon as I push choke in it revs high then bogs down and dies. It seems to rev when choke is halfway also. but does idle w/ full choke

I am confused now. I double checked dyno-jet's website. Dyno-jet kit was already installed when I got it. According to the chart I am set up correctly. Stage 1 is my setup. Mildly tuned w/ aftermarket exhaust, air box lid installed. dxp220 is their main jet that is installed, clip is in slot 3 and air is now turned 2 out.

take you carb apart and clean it good.....i still say you should put i bigger jet in like a 260
or try the 340 in the kit and take the airbox lid off....all you can do it try

you really cant do jetting by looking at a chart, if it ran when the choke was giving it more gas then going up in your jet sizes makes sence right?

HELP... HELP...HELP...
Update, I removed the dynojet kit, and returned to stock, I bought and installed a rebuild kit, I cleaned well while it was disassembled and changed main jet to a 260 . After all that It still will not idle... BUT

If choke is out it will idle.

1. FMF Fatty w/ PowerCore 2 silencer
2. Stock engine w/ boyessen reeds
3. Tors still mounted but disconnected (yellow/Black wire coming from Tors is connected to ground, Throttle switch removed)
4. 260 main, 32.5 pilot, clip in 3rd position on needle, air screw 1 and 1/2 out, airbox lid on but snorkel removed "per FMF's site"

I am located in Central Florida at sea level @ 85-95 degrees

Could I be missing something with the Tors system or does it definately sound like a carb. issue.

Old thread.. but the same thing is happening to me. I took the carb out and cleaned it. Checked everything else like op did.

03 Blaster, turns on first kick and sounds great. Touching the throttle just slightly and it idles awesome... as soon as I let go of the throttle it shuts off.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks

Probably be best to start your own thread. Eliminates confusion on who's doing what.
WELCOME !!

I thought about starting my own thread, but to avoid the famous thread replies to use the search function, I decided to add to this one since I'm pretty much in the same as the original poster.

Problem is when picking up an old thread, I/me/we/them/us/ have to go searching back through all the posts to find out your problem.

Do you think it is fair that I/we, all above, should search to find out your symptoms when it would be more favourable for you to spend just a moment of your time to list your problems.

I am very happy to assist, but please lay it on the line and help me to help you!

Understood.

I am pleasantly surprised on the non confrontational and professional replies thus far. ( Not like the other forums I have been a part of.)

Thanks for the advice to start my own thread. I will do that now.
