i broke the skirt off of the piston and had the head bored at .20..after putting it all back together it only starts with carb cleaner..it will run on its own wide opened but wont tack over 1500..rebuilt carb checked all wiring.. is it possible i put the piston in backwards? which way does the arrow face? Oh and put new Boyesen reeds in.. Frustrated..ugh

Thank you very much.. i figured this much.. you were a great help, thanks again,

Welcome to the site kevin. Did you get this figured out? I would advise against using carb cleaner to start it. How's your plug look? Maybe clean your carb out real good and see what jets are in it. What's done to the blaster?

Did you do a leakdown test prior to starting up the engine? If you broke a piston skirt, it is possible that a piece of the broken skirt was forced into the case and broke out or cracked part of the engine case. If this happened, you'll have an air leak which will make the engine run so lean that it may 'run away' but not rev with the throttle at all.

Build or buy a leak-down tester, use it, and see what results you get. That will point you in the right direction...
