2000 Trail Boss 325 Over Heating

So all other quad sites suck balls.

Just picked this up. runs great. Cleaned Carb and tank really well. Starts Idles runs like a champ.

Problem I found. when it gets hot it cuts out.

It is air cooled with an Oil Cooler. I still need to change oil and filter.

Reading up. They have a rev limiter for when it gets hot. Fan never kicks in and Temp light never goes on.

I need to test my thermistor and temp sensor.

Any other thoughts?

Are you sure the fan works? Maybe try and hook it straight up to a battery to get it moving? From there I would move to the thermostat and temp sensor.

I would also make sure that oil flows to and through cooler.

I would run a spot check at several spots on engine for temp,if allowable range for temp I would check electrical could be cdi or coil

I checked the oil. 1 quart low. Now I have to fill it check the rest of the system and pray the low oil isnt a symptom of anything other than neglect
