I am new to this site and was wondering if any one can help me with some info on a top end rebuild..... My wifes blaster was sucking air somewhere and it had a nelt down. I can get away with just doing the top end but I think I am going to bore it out just to be on the safe side. Should I bore it just enough or is it worth going .40 over. I am not sure if it would make that much of a diffrence in power. Thanks to alll for your help in advance

welcome to the site,
first you need to figure out where it was sucking air at, then just get the jug bored to the smallest size that you can to fix the damage. after you have it back together, before you even think about starting it, do yourself a favor and do a leakdown test on it. this will reveal any leaks that may still be present and hopefully save yourself a bit of headache later on.

this has been covered many times, and the search function is a great tool to answer most of the questions you have

Unless you've had this bike since it was new, don't just assume it is still standard bore. Take it to the guy who will be boring it and have him measure so you order the right piston.

Virtually no power to be gained from a slight overbore. Save your future oversizes and only bore how much you need to.

and i almost forgot, don't forget to do a proper break in and retorque the nuts for where the jug meats the bottom end, and the head nuts

Thanks guys I am pretty sure that it was sucking from the carb boot (in front of reeds) but I am going to replace all gaskets and do a leak down. I measured the jug and it is a stock bore but will have someone confirm before ordering any parts. On a side note what is the switch assembly at the top of the throat (carb). Thats all I can find for a description on all the parts diagrams. What does it do? Sounds like a dumb question I know but its only a dumb question if you dont ask. Thanks again

thats the TORS unit. it is basically a big ass mess of wires. no use for it really.

you can buy a tors delete kit.

Part of the Throttle OverRide System, that it is. It works with the thumb throttle switch and the little TORS box up by the CDI to kill the ignition in the event of a stuck throttle. Annoying safety device that many people delete.
