2000 Blaster Dies when you jiggle the throttle cable at idle.

Hello, I recently purchased a 2000 Blaster. 2 days ago I adjusted the throttle cable a little because it has a lot of free play and it wouldn't idle. I cleaned the carb and it idles now, just high (I will adjust it tomorrow). Anyway, if I jiggle the throttle cable it will die on me. Anyone have a guess as to why? I think the TORS is being temperamental and that is why it didn't want to idle. All help is appreciated! Thanks!

up close pic of you carb?
your other post says summin like 34 pilot ect.
airscrew setting ?
clean air filter?
compression test?
tors brain is unplugged for your year 2000
free flow gas from tank to carb?
float height/in float bowl of carb?
exhaust is free from obstructions

Where did you adjust cable from the thumb throttle?

DOES a BEAR chit in the woods?

If the idle dies when the throttle cable is jiggled, it may be sticking internally.

Jiggling it may free it up and let the slide bottom out in the carb.

i had this problem once. On 88-02 if you adjust the cable at the thumb throttle, it can pull the cable at the TORS and open the sensor switch on the TORS unit, which will say the throttle is open, but the switch on the thumb throttle stays switch closed =throttle closed
if the TORS unit thinks the throttle is open and the thumb switch says the throttle is closed, it causes the TORS computer to engage and kill the engine, same as if the throttle is stuck open.

On the pre -02 Blasters, when the TORS is functional, the thumb throttle switch must open before the TORS unit switch or the TORS computer will kill the spark. I would loosen the cable at the thumb throttle to give it 3-5mm free play, make sure and test it at all steering angles. You can also just unhook the wires going into the TORS unit on the carb and/or unhook the wires going to the tors unit under the little hood, then it will never activate the TORS unit, you will loose protection from a stuck throttle, and it is advisable to hook up a kill tether so if you wreck or fall off it will kill the motor throttle stuck or not.

How could I tell if it was that? And how would it be fixed?

That seems like a possibility, so if I unhooked the tors unit at the carb would that be it? And would the idle screw on it still be functional?
Thanks for your replies!

I can't remember for sure unhook it at the carb and it will eithe never start, or it will never activate the TORS, I think that unhooking it st the carb is going to give you the correct results.
I know for sure if you unhook the TORS unit (2 or 3 wires) under the hood, it is one of the 2 black boxes and has with fewer wires. do not unhook the silver single wire voltage regulator or you will burn out your bulbs

And yes your factory idle screw will still work, the TORS will just never think the throttle is open.
