14/40 Qs

I see a lot of yall like to go with the 14/40. Not a HUGE difference, but a difference. I also notice that the majority of people doing this run 18 or 20" tires, which I'm getting away from. I'll soon be running 22s!! Also, I mainly do tight wooded trails and, over-grown fire roads, with some fast areas in between, but I like turning!! It seems to me that the majority here is more into higher speed riding, pits, tracks, open fields where you make your own track, etc.....I could be wrong though?

I'm not sure that the 14 is the way to go for me. I was considering going down to 12 for the 22s but I kinda think that will be too slow, we'll see. Will the 14 smoke my clutch with 22s? Mud lites. Or will the 13 end up being ideal for me? What do yall think?

when i switched to 14/40 the only diffrence it made is it streched out the gears a lil bit i didnt lose any torque on the low end an now it seems like i have another gear but i run 20s out back so i dont know what it would do with the 22s

IM testing mine out as soon as i go riding i ride trails that oyu can open up on but also to hillclimbs and with the power I should be getting the 14/40 should rip up most hills, i run 20's

I got 22's on mine with a 14/40 and I plan on going back to 13 because I would like a little more low end, and I do mostly trail riding. If I were you I would either stick to smaller tires or if thats not an option get the tires and then decide on what you need to do with your gearing.

what gearing should you put for wheelies or drag racing the tracks are 150 feet long so it needs to getup and go quick to be a winner

I run 12/42 with 22inch tires. I am a bigger guy 6ft 225lbs. I love this gear setup, I ride fields, trails, and some hills. And wheelies are easy. I think this setup is good for someone bigger and someone who trail rides. I dont enjoy going 65mph on my blaster. LOW END!!!!
