long story short 03 blaster with fresh top end, gaskets and seals. i bought it locked up and rebuilt it. i have never heard it run until today ;) i cleaned out the carb before reinstalling it but i can only get it to idle with the choke one click out. do i still have a dirty carb ? one click out and it runs perfect starts first kick. all the way in and it acts like its starving for fuel. also is there an idle adjustment? i know there is a mixing screw but thats all i see.

the screw on the side of the carb (idle air screw) needs to be screwed all the way in then 1.5 turns out. start there. and report back. did you do a leakdown test after ur build?

no leak down test yet. waiting for a local guy to get back in touch with me that makes tester. i just adjusted the carb to 1.5 out choke off. when i rev it the engine seems to hang high for a few then drop back down slowly it will idle for a short time then stall. not even one click out on the carb and it will rev nice and idle great. i am thinking air leak ? i dont want to damage anything playing with it too much.

yes i have met him already for some needed parts trading . him and his girl are great people. he is who i am going to meet for the tester. i cant buy the stuff for what he is selling them for. so i hope to get in touch with him tonight or tomorrow to buy a tester. live and learn i guess i should have tested it out of the bike lol.
yeah man! air leak. did you contact holeshotman. he is a florida boy too. he could get it to ya pretty quick i'm sure

yep been there done that. and no i couldn't buy the stuff for his price either i think i spent over 50 on mine but it is alittle more complex than his stuff. but they will work the same. wouldn't be a bad idea to pull the cutch cover and flywheel to check the crank bearings for leaks too. you could try the old carb cleaner trick for now to see if you can locate the leak. if it is a big leak that will work

i did spray some cleaner around the reeds, carb and jug. i didnt go crazy because i painted the engine black and was just waiting for the carb cleaner to crinkle my paint job lol. i didnt find any leaks there but like i said i didnt go crazy either.

I understand not wantin to mess up ur hard work yet! and i do mean yet. 1 trip to croom and it will look worse than it did when ya got it!

yaa i cant wait ;) at least that will be fun. right now messing up my work is not so great. lol hope for an easy fix LOL but thats not in my lucky hat i am sure

I have gone through some major bs with my learning curve with this thing. I started from scratch with mine and distroied quite a few pistons and a couple cranks. this was all w/o blaster forum. but now i know alot about how these little blastards run.

gonna set up a ride at croom with holeshot when i finish. just need to purchase my exhaust tryin to earn the money

i would like to be in on that ride too if you guys dont mind. let me know when. my blaster is pretty much stock, this is my first blaster so i am learning as i go, i dont wanna put a ton of money into after market stuff yet until i take it out and beat it up to see if its even something i wanna stick with.

build a tester today and i have no leaks. next question is. i tried removing the tors but it would not run with things unplugged. also what is the big screw on the tors for ? idle ? i know i turned it . so whats a good starting point with that ? i am going to go back though the carb tomorrow and see if i missed anything. it still will not idle without the choke out one click and now i have the adjustments so screwed up i dont know where to start LOL
