2001 yamaha blaster will not kick start but will occasionally push start. Getting good fire and fuel and has good compression. Coil and cdi are good plz plz plz help asap its 40 over just broke in before i bought it.

What's the compression at? Does the kicker feel like its spinning freely/ easily?

You say it only occasionally starts when pushed so it won't start majority of the time?

You got a good spark you say. Nice strong one?

Carbs be cleaned REALLY well all passageways, jets? As well as you made sure your getting a good fuel flow to the carb through the petcock?

Have u examined your reeds yet?

what is the compression ?

tried a new b8es plug ?

check the condition of the reeds, all 4 petals must be intact and closing

airfilter clean ?

pull the pipe off the head and try to start it, in case the pipe/silencer is clogged, mice nests have happened.

what carb and jetting ?
especially, what pilot and airscrew setting
should be 32.5 pilot and airscrew at 1.5 turns out to start

check the flywheel for the woodruff key, it holds the flywheel in time. it can still fire if it's missing or sheared, but possibly at the wrong time in the piston cycle

Compression do not know exact. Number the plug in it just bought today. And ill try the exhaugst deal and when i stay will occasionally push start i mean there is no guareentee it will start in 100 tries but kick starting it wont even try to start and its a carb off of a 250cc suzuki dirt bike with blaster needle. Dnt know if the problem is its dumbin to much fuel or not.

Do u mean u put the needle off the stock mikuni 26 and put it inside whatever you have now?

What type of carb do you have now . What jetting? You can't just randomly throw a new carb at it with random jetting and expect It to start...

My advise is to go back to the stock carb and stock jetting if the quad is stock, or stock carb jetted appropriately for mods.

You called the needle a " blasters needle " I'm assuming that you mean it came out of the stock blaster carb? If so use that needle as well in the stock position.

Also how can u know the compression is good if you never tested it? Go to autozone rent a tester and get a accurate reading.

.

/\ ding ding ding...we have a winner I:I

The 30mm carburator with the 26 mm needle was like that when i bought i just order a carb the quad but its a stock carb so my next question being the motor is bored 40 over will stock jets give it enough fuel or should i rejet it? And if i need to rejet it wat size jet should i use?

You will not need to re jet for only a 40 over bore, however if any mods have been done to either the intake or the exhaust you will need more than stock jetting.

List your mods if any, type of air filter, air box lid on/off, pipe/exhaust and oil injection or pre mix ratio.

Results of the leak test would be good as well.
